The time where websites were big deals in terms of creating them is long past. We are now in an era where anyone, and I mean it when I say anyone can create a website at almost no cost. As far as you know how to start a computer and check your emails or sign in to facebook, you can create a drop dead website with an online shop as well. Super IT freaks have already created very user friendly solutions that would allow you build your website from scratch and publish it immediately within 2 hours. How is this possible and why do you need to take advantage of this new technology? That is what I will be handling in this tutorial.

As entrepreneurs, starting a business in Africa is just like starting a business anywhere in the world, just that you have the added disadvantage of poor infrastructure and limited access to technology. But nevertheless, what you need to deliver as a business has to meet global standards and expectations. An online presence is part of it. Taking to account that the world is becoming very digital based day by day, I strongly advise young African entrepreneurs to begin equipping themselves with the simplest digital knowledge and skill. Having an online presence as a growing business does not basically mean having one or multiple social media pages for your business. Social media is basically a platform to market your business, not your home base online. Your home base where you can proudly and extensively display and portray who you are and what your business is about, including offering your services or products like a store is your website.

7 reasons why every African business needs a website

Millions of Africans are on social media and use it for both personal and professional use. But what if, like the video sharing platform Vine which was launched in 2014, millions joined, then what if, like it happened Vine was closed. So what now happens to your business reach. All that you have built there? This is a simple argument why you need to develop your own presence online as a parallel alternative. Actually your strategy should be to direct the traffic from social media platforms to your own space online. I am referring to every kind of entrepreneurship venture. Be it charity based or profit based. Be it product based or services based. Be you a speaker, a writer or any kind of freelancer. Get online and build your reach.

7 reasons why every African entrepreneur need a website.

  1. To build your credibility.
  2. To attract higher paying clients.
  3. To properly portray and communicate your business.
  4. To sell your services and products.
  5. To enhance your customers experience.
  6. To get the most out of your social media marketing.
  7. To get the most out of your offline marketing.

I hope I have enticed you a bit to take the first step to get online, like real online, not just social media. Build your own space online. I have created several tutorials on how to create your own website with step by step information and recommendations.
